Hilltop Home Page Hilltop sits between the east and west segments of the Grand Forest. Acquisition of the Hilltop property will connect these treasured parklands, and create nearly 540 contiguous acres of permanently protected natural landscape for the benefit of people, wildlife, and water resources.

Who’s supporting Hilltop?

The Land Trust needs to raise the last 10% of our $3.6 fund raising goal. This same funding goal now includes 5 additional acres totaling 36 permanently conserved acres connecting the Grand Forest East and West.

Please note the following:

  • Every member of the 2011 Bainbridge Island Land Trust Board of Directors comitted $140,000 in support of this project.
  • Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park and Recreation District committed $500,000 to the purchase of Hilltop (8.16 acres were tranferred to BI Parks in January 2012) and has received a state grant for an additional $211,000.
  • Hilltop has received a $250,000 grant from the C. Keith Birkenfeld Memorial Trust, administered by The Seattle Foundation.
  • An anonymous benefactor has promised $550,000 over the first two years.
  • Over 500+ entities (households, agencies, foundations & organizations) have donated, and the number continues to grow!
  • Many state and local elected officials support this project.

Bainbridge Island and Kitsap media are supporting the project:
